One of the
more popular animé shown in the country, and based on
the manga created by Togashi Yoshihiro, It was first
aired in Manila by IBC ch. 13, then by GMA ch.7. The
series has about 112 TV episodes, 2 OVAs, and 2 movies (Both
were already shown in the country) under its belt.
Urameshi Yusuke is an ordinary 14 year-old juvenile
delinquent high school student, whose life changed when
he saved a kid from being run over by a car. He died in
the process but was later returned to life by Koenma
Daioh after he performed some tasks for the Spirit World.
Yusuke befriends Kurama and the aloof Hiei during this
time. Then Yuuske and Kuwabara recieves training from
Genkai and improves their skills. The Team Yusuke fights
four "sacred" demons, Genbu, Byakko, Seiryuu
and Suzaku, who planned to control the world with an
enchanted flute. Then they rescued Hiei's sister Yukina
from a mob boss, and they meet and fought Toguro for the
first time.
Afterwards they recieve an invitation from the Makai to
join the Ankoku Bujutsukai. They fought Roku Yukai Team,
Hiei injures his hand when he used the Ensats Kokurytha
for the first time in combat. Then the group fought a mad
scientist team and defeated them after a while, then they
fought the wily Mashou Tukai Team with Touya and Jin
providing stiff resistance, then they fought the Uratogi
team. Kurama's opponent brought back his true form, that
of a Youko but its effect was not permanent. Shishiwaka
then transports Kuwabara out of the ring and fights with
the masked member of Team Yusuke, who was revealed as
Genkai. Finally they fought the Toguro team with Kurama
facing Karasu, Hiei defeating Bui, Kuwabara "defeated"
the elder Toguro and Yusuke barely defeating Toguro,
after overcoming his grief with Genkai's passing and
Kuwabara's fake "sacrifice".
After some time, Team Yusuke were confronted with people
who have the ability to enforce "territories".
They befriended some like Kaito, Kidou and Inagi who were
under Genkai's orders to test Team Yusuke. Koenma brings
them a mysterious video which prompts Team Yusuke to
investigate Sensui Shinobi, a former Reikai Tantei like
Yusuke. They confront different members of Shinobi's
group which had the intention of opening the seal of the
Makai. After barely defeating Sensui, with the unexpected
help of Raizen. Yusuke, Hiei and Kurama then separately
goes to the Makai to entertain certain invitations, which
turned out to be a sort of war between the ruling S-class
warlords. Yusuke prevented an all out war from breaking
out when he introduced the Makai tournament to determine
the Makai's fate. Most of Yusuke's friends joined the
tournament along with some pretty powerful youkais led by
Mukuro and the blind Yomi. Kurama fought Shigure(the one
who implanted Hiei's jagan) and barely defeated him even
in his Youko form. Hiei was defeated by the powerful
Mukuro and Yusuke was barely defeated by a powerful Yomi
in the semi-finals, who in turn was defeated by one of
Raizen's friend in the finals and promised to rule the
Makai wisely. Yusuke went back to the Ningenkai and is
still is the Reikai Tantei, he is with Keiko whom he
promised to be with forever.

He now serves as a Reikai Tantei(Spirit Detective) to protect the Ningenkai (Human World). He became a disciple of Genkai and studied the Reiki under her. Later he was revealed to be a descendant of an S-class Youkai and ruled his country after the youkai's death. He made a pact with the other two rulers to hold a tournament every three years to maintain the peace in Makai(Demon World). | He used to be a Youko in Makai but when he was mortally wounded and he entered Minamino Shiori's womb and entered the Ningenkai as Minamino Shuichi. He met Yusuke after stealing the Reikai mirror to save his mother, he came to a compromise with Yusuke and worked with him ever since. He regained his former Youko form during the Ankoku Bujutsukai just before the Urameshi team faced the Toguro team. Kurama has the ability to manipulate all plants and turns them into weapons and effective killing tool. At the end of the series, he decided to stay in Ningenkai and work in his stepfather's company. | Another trouble-maker like Yusuke, they go to the same school. He is the tallest among the group and is the only full-human. His weapon is a Rei-ken which can cut anything. He became Yusuke's rival then his best-friend, who is very loyal though dumb-witted at times. At the end of the series he is shown that he passed the exams to enter a university. | Hiei is the shortest among the four and is the most adamant and aloof. He was a being of fire but was born to the world of ice and was banished as a child. He had a purple Jagan(Third Eye) implanted on his forehead to look for his mother and twin sister (whom he cares for a lot). He is an excellent swordsman and and an efficient fighter but his main weapon is Ensats Kokurytha, which is a destructive dragon made up of fire from Makai. He joined Yusuke because of Kurama and fought with him to protect his twin Yukina and the Ningenkai. He stayed at the Makai as Mukuro's right-hand to have a chance to fight others. |
